20,000 words and counting

So, a summation of facts:

• My Honours Thesis was approximately 12,000 words. Eight or so months of work.
• My book, Conscious, written over five years, is an astounding 16,980 words.
• My book, written via NaNoWriMo, is 20,095 words after twelve days.

I’ve never written so much in such a small space of time. And maybe, just maybe, there’s nothing here. Avi Lewis would certainly argue that.

But the writer in me knows there are 20,095 words that have never before in the history of our civilization that have never been strung together quite like I have just done. And, for that reason, is pretty fucking impressive.
