Early Retirement

I turned twenty, too.
I never dreamed that brought early retirement
For in twenty zero two
I packed up and moved on
From my prior commitment as an earthling
To solitude, desolation and bitterness

My enrollment into socialization
Fulfilled with friendships to last forever
Situations to simmer in my subconscious
Lives to never hope to forget
Talents to profess, work to be done
Happiness to swim around in.

If only I could have known
My advancements would sweep me away
Knock me out of my fog, shine such hope
Brush aside all pain in my path
Leaving limited heartache
Of what imagination I would have had!
