Proust Questionnaire

Inspired by a local film pool coop magazine, here are my answers:

  • What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
    Loneliness
  • Where would you like to live?
On a beach, surrounded by glistening sand as it sparkles in the reflection of the moon and stars
  • What is your idea of earthly happiness?
To know each day there are others out there willing to share, explore and contemplate all that life can offer – and to make contact with those others.
  • To what faults do you feel most indulgent?
Constant guilt about my actions in the world.
  • Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?
Orwell, Martel, Rushdie, you know – those who inspire me to write better.
  • Who are your favorite characters in history?
The well-documented ones who fought the sytem, and those who may not be written in the history pages but nevertheless advanced our society. Those peasants who thought their merciless employers were brutal; those farmers sick of their labour being exploited; those passionate revolutionaries who challenged a system much harder to challenge than anything we face now… Those countless nameless heroes who allowed for me to be who I am today.
  • Who are your favorite heroines in real life?
The women who I choose to spend time with – always inspiring in their leadership, vision, kindness, peace and warmth.
  • Who are your favorite heroines of fiction?
Sadly I don’t think I have any. My reading has plummeted in my university days. Let’s argue, just to argue, that they are out there, waiting for me to discover them.
  • Your favorite painter?
    Pablo Picasso
  • Your favorite musician?
    Tori Amos
  • The quality you most admire in a man?
    Humility
  • The quality you most admire in a woman?
    Independence
  • Your favorite virtue?
    Wisdom
  • Your favorite occupation?
    Thinking
  • Who would you have liked to be?
Right now very comfortable with who I am. Having said that, being Gandhi would have been so challenging I struggle to think I would have had the fortitude to do it.
