race car driver
the revving may as well be a V-6
when all I want is for it to stall
I have no use for this
adrenaline kick
I have no advancement in this
race
if tomorrow’s lap is unraceable
why am I fuming when there is no fire?
does this flame have to be visible for it to be threatening?
should I change my engine style
to be hip and trendy— a hybrid?
or drop this vehicle altogether?
these are the contemplations
of a race car driver
and of a lonely poet.
