rinse and repeat

No greater deception than the social conspiracy
Of work itself
Our repetition is exactly what they expect of us:

Education,
Fear,
Work,
Death.
Rinse and Repeat.
Onto the new generation we bring into the world
Reproduction: to propagate the species?

There’s a chance we’re all just floating in a subconscious void
Exactly what the religions have been proclaiming for millennia
Under no apparent adversity to continue as we normally do
Yet cliché-filled stories waltz in our libraries
But we don’t take them seriously, never have
But we don’t take heed of their warnings, refuse to

It’s easier being ignorant
Than to face up with reality.
And that’s not the idealism in me
Which warrants my skepticism
It’s the human.
