stuck in the past
we the people
who struggle, tear up and fight with our words
are not here.
we the people
who have spent countless hours making plackards and marching
are long gone.
we the people
who wrestled when it wasn’t superfulous to do so
are not present.
we are stuck in the past, you see
we are lodged into the eternity of constant conflict
and we don’t like the light. won’t acknowledge it. can’t face our losses.
we are stuck in the past, for some masochistic reason
because we want to be there. why advance when we can go on and banter
why challenge the status quo when we can lament what we no longer have.
the ability to change and shape ourselves is not our enemy.
we the people
should of all people
grow to recognise this.
