the dizzying effect of RRSPs
most people my age are probably doing a lot more interesting things right now.
Like *not* planning their RRSPs.
Why oh why do they make it so fucking difficult to live ethically in this world? The federal government has no problem charging me taxes because it has some wonderful notion that rich people deserve to have their taxes paid by me.
If I was subsidizing the services of lower income Canadians, I’d have no problem paying my taxes. Right now, though, I’m looking at all of the ways one can shelter money (and you need a lot of money in order to make it all worthwhile) and it pisses me off.
Rich people are being subsidized because supposedly we’re stifling their ability to invest. Well, they no longer have to invest in Canada, thanks to Ralph Goodale’s elimination of the Canadian-investment requirement for RRSPs in his budget yesterday. That’ll build a nation, by investing in Wal-Marts in China…
Ugh. So difficult. And yet, if I make use of the same stupid tools of the rich, I’ll save a heafty $1000 on my taxes! I don’t like this system. It shouldn’t be like this. There should be more classes of tax brackets, and those at the top should be taxed more. If I ever make it to the top, please world, take as much as possible from me. I know the rest of the country would deserve it from me.
