the Queen
it wasn’t meant to be a day spent a metre or so away from the monarch of Canada.
if anything, I don’t believe in the monarchy’s rightful heir to the throne anyway. The whole “Manifest Destiny” thing really bothers me.
but still, there I was, standing a metre or so away from Queen Elizabeth II.
I noticed a few things:
- she looks like a grandma you could run into anywhere, likely Tim Horton’s or The Golden Mile.
- she looks like she, had she grown up in Saskatchewan, would like gardening and cats.
- she looks like she, after meeting with her “subjects” all day, still enjoys visiting with people.
It’s sad to say I got a little excited, only because my concept of idols and heroes hasn’t been fully fleshed out at this point… i.e., I still believe in idols. I just don’t like the worshipping aspect that much.
