this can't be what ten years has accumulated
I know people in the student movement who don’t seem to live in reality. Reality, I will define, consists of these things:
- that selling out to a non-profit is not necessarily better than selling out to a for-profit
- that pushing something continuously based on a whacked view of ideology that obviously is out of line of all in the room is not healthy. and it creates more divisions than finds solutions.
- that finding identity by conforming is the strangest possible way to discover a true meaning and individual purpose. we are INDIVIDUALS in a collective lobbying group! let’s not lose sight of our individual contributions!
- that the message doesn’t seem to be as important as the messenger for some… what a crock.
alas, far too many of these individuals run Canada’s largest student organisation. That doesn’t mean that the organisation is bunk, far from it, but there is a need for regime change. and we’re not talkin’ g.w. style, we’re talkin’ k.g. style. two years, hard labour, can’t solve everything overnight. but it will occur. that’s what the shedding of blood, sweat and tears is all about.
