unknown nice people
the hope that comes
from intergenerational hope
that tie that binds
two different
vastly different
peoples
and thinks to itself
maybe there’s a connection here I can forge.
perhaps there’s some way
I can manifest a transcendence
of spirit and dedication
to the good life.
it could be on a ranch outside of the
city
or in the city’s heart
where this is happening.
where it pulls away the layers of grit
tears can leave on the skin
and hushes in its quiet remark,
“you know, you two have
something in common.”
protection
security
simple
balanced
it’s this basic understanding of what
makes it all feel so good
and what we need to share with others
that makes the drive through this canyon
sometimes so vast, deep and void
of what seems like intelligent passersby
so interesting.
